The role

We’re looking for two confident and speedy motion graphics aficionados to hop on a 2-month contract to help us with a big ol’ set of educational courses that need repurposing alongside the client’s fresh new brand guidelines. Bullet points, diagrams, page transitions, lower thirds…you know the score.

Taking direction from our Production Director, Nick, and one of our creative producers, Kai, you’ll work alongside another motion graphics designer to get each course smashed out in time for the launch of the client’s new website.

This opportunity would suit a freelancer, a junior designer, a recent graduate, or even as a summer placement—the key is that you’re driven and can get cracking from day one.

About you

We’re looking for someone with solid motion graphic design skills, a clear understanding of the animation process and an insatiable interest in digital design.

Along with your custom workspace layout, your favourite easing scripts and that folder of plugins you’ve been collecting ever since your first Andrew Kramer tutorial (*swoon*), you’ve got a passion for After Effects that won’t quit. Working on layouts and pixel-perfect typography stirs up your loins and your attention to detail borders on obsessive. The idea of a project laden with linear, motion blurless animations turns your stomach and makes you twitch—you dive straight into the graph editor to perfect the easing because you’re all about that satisfyingly smooth movement.

You’re switched on and focused. Always. Getting. Shit. Done. You’re not afraid of long hours and you welcome pressure from all angles. You won’t sulk when someone asks you to do something you don’t want to do; you put 100% into any role that’s thrown at you.

You have an insatiable curiosity and lust for knowledge about all things video, web and social. We’ll do everything we can to help you improve and hone your skills, but you’ll have a lot of independence, so we expect you to always be learning and be making the most of the opportunities presented to you.

That’s just the kind of people we are and want you to be; a hard-working, sparkling personality that will mesh well with the existing Storm & Shelter team. We love smart people with a dash (sometimes a dollop) of quirkiness.

  • A proven ability to deliver motion graphics projects to fixed deadlines.
  • An in-depth knowledge of Adobe CC software (specifically After Effects, Premiere Pro and Photoshop).
  • Experience with Adobe CC workflows (e.g. linked projects, media organisation).
  • Not awful at making a cup of tea—a truly unforgivable trait.

Nice to have

  • A relevant degree. Speaks for itself.
  • Experience working in a professional editing and post-production environment.
  • Experience with project management platforms (Asana, Basecamp etc).
  • Able to speak/read/write in the Welsh language.

If you’re ready for the job, you’ll know that’s what it takes to do it well. We’re looking for someone who has the skills, experience and personality needed to get this project completed on time and to a very high standard. Convince us why we should hire you!
